Mohamed(Patient Name) was identified with fulminant hepatic failure (a medical syndrome of acute and excessive hepatic impairment). Investigations in Qatar showed that liver enzymes, ammonia and coagulation profiles were largely neurotic, but doctors could not confirm the trigger for the sharp and sudden decline.
As his condition worsened, he was put on ventilator support and medications to stabilize his blood pressure.
With the help of Bangladeshi authorities and its embassy in India, the boy was shifted to Rela Institute Chennai. Mohammad's father donated a part of his liver as living donor transplant. The paperwork for the transplant, which can usually take 10 days, was expedited and the transplant was scheduled on the third day of their arrival in the city. Donor liver retrieval was robotically terminated to allow for the earliest restoration of daddy. Liver transplant surgeon Mohamed Rela operated on the boy. “He had an uneven post-operative interval and was discharged on the tenth day post-transplant. Every donor and recipient lives properly,” Dr. Mohamed Rela mentioned.
